After two years and two architects, we were commissioned by our client. What we inherited was a difficult and uninspiring development approval. We proposed that if we were to proceed, we might start again. The client agreed and never looked back. Four rooms and a hallway are all that remain of the existing building, now expanded into two discrete wings over two floors. Light now floods the house. We chose a palette of materials which give the space variation and warmth. The house was featured in domain in 1999. The calm, white on white bathroom was chosen by belle magazine for inclusion in the 1999 Kitchen and Bathroom Yearbook.

"Mark understood my need for sanctuary and it's the little things that count. I love the tranquility of the house and the way the entertaining areas work whether there are two or twenty people in them." from Modern Heart, Sydney Morning Herald, Domain April 8, 1999, pages 10+11.
